Infrastructure Modernization

Replace ageing cabling, switching and Wi-Fi with a network designed for how the business runs today.

Buildings that were cabled a decade ago were wired for a fraction of today’s device count, before Wi-Fi carried most of the traffic and before video calls became routine. Infrastructure modernisation replaces that ageing base — cabling, switching, Wi-Fi — with a design sized to how the organisation actually operates now, not how it operated when the building was first fitted out.

What this solution combines

Infrastructure modernisation draws primarily on IT infrastructure and networking — structured cabling, network architecture design, and Wi-Fi redesign based on a real site survey. Where server hardware is also ageing, it’s paired with servers and systems work. Larger or multi-site modernisation projects often start with an independent IT infrastructure assessment to document the current state and prioritise what to replace first.

What it typically looks like

A phased project: an assessment documenting current cabling, switching and Wi-Fi coverage against actual usage; a design sized to current and near-future device counts; cabling and containment replacement where the physical plant is undocumented or degraded; new switching with capacity and VLAN segmentation the old equipment couldn’t support; and a Wi-Fi redesign based on a proper site survey rather than access points placed wherever was convenient originally.

Who this fits

Organisations in a building for 5+ years without a network refresh, anyone who has moved into a space with unknown or undocumented cabling, and organisations whose device count or Wi-Fi demand has grown well past what the network was originally designed to support.

Frequently asked questions

How do we know if our network actually needs modernising, or just fixing?

A useful test: if the same problems keep recurring after repeated fixes, or the network can't support current device counts and Wi-Fi demand, the underlying design has been outgrown rather than faulty. An assessment distinguishes a design problem from a fault.

Can modernisation happen without shutting the office down?

Mostly yes — new cabling and equipment can often be installed in phases or outside working hours, with a planned cutover window for the final switch to new infrastructure. We schedule disruptive work specifically to minimise impact on your operating hours.

Do we need to replace everything at once?

No — modernisation is often phased: cabling and core switching first, Wi-Fi second, firewall and security third. We can sequence this against your budget rather than requiring a single large spend.

What's the biggest sign a network is overdue for modernisation?

Repeated, unresolved slowness or drop-outs that don't map to any single faulty device — that's usually a design or capacity issue rather than something a fix can resolve permanently.
