Search engine optimisation (SEO) makes it easier for people who search on Google to find your business, understand what you offer and contact you. GENIUS Advanced Technologies offers SEO for businesses and organisations in Kigali and across Rwanda, and for Rwandan companies that want to reach customers abroad. The work covers your Google Business Profile and Maps listing, the technical health of your website, the words customers use when they search, the content on your pages, and your reputation across the web. It sits alongside our web, hosting and digital services: those build and run the website, and this category is about making sure people find it.
What this covers
Twelve services, each with its own page, cover the full range of SEO work:
- Local visibility: Google Business Profile and Maps SEO and local citations, so nearby customers find accurate details.
- Your website: technical SEO, on-page SEO and e-commerce SEO for online shops.
- What to say and where: keyword research and strategy, SEO content marketing and multilingual and international SEO.
- Authority: off-page SEO and link building and competitor analysis.
- Measuring and continuing: analytics and reporting and ongoing SEO management.
Most clients don’t need all twelve at once. An audit shows which ones will make the most difference first.
Why search visibility matters for Rwandan businesses
More and more customers in Rwanda search on their phones before they visit, call or book: for a clinic near them, a hotel in Musanze, a logistics company that handles customs, or an accountant in Kigali. Visitors planning a trip to Rwanda search from abroad, often in English or French. If your business doesn’t appear for those searches, or appears with a wrong phone number or closed hours, the enquiry goes to whoever does appear.
Many Rwandan businesses have a website that was built once and never looked at again. It may not be indexed properly, its pages may not say what the business actually does in the words customers use, and its Google Business Profile may be unclaimed or incomplete. These are fixable problems, and fixing them is often the cheapest marketing a business can do.
How we approach SEO
We start with an audit, not a package. We check how Google currently sees your website and profile, which searches you appear for, what stops pages from being indexed, and what competitors do better. The result is a ranked list of fixes, not a generic checklist.
We don’t promise rankings. Google doesn’t publish exactly how it ranks pages, and no honest provider can guarantee a position or a date. We commit to the work and to transparent reporting on traffic, calls and enquiries.
We follow Google’s rules. Buying links in bulk, hiding text or creating fake reviews can get a site or profile penalised. Google’s own guidelines treat link schemes and fake engagement as spam. Our link building and review work stays within those rules, so the gains last.
We keep you in control. Your Google Business Profile, Search Console and Analytics stay in your organisation’s name. We work as invited managers, so if you ever change provider, nothing is lost.
Google Business Profile: who is eligible
Google only allows a Business Profile for businesses that make in-person contact with customers during their stated hours, either at a location customers can visit or by travelling to customers as a service-area business. Online-only businesses, such as e-commerce shops with no physical presence, are not eligible. We check eligibility before starting, use the real business name, address or service area and categories, and never promise that a profile will be verified or reach a specific position on Maps.
Who it’s for
SEO suits businesses whose customers search before they buy: hotels, lodges and tour operators; restaurants and shops; clinics and pharmacies; logistics, transport and real estate companies; schools; NGOs that want their programmes found; and professional services such as law, accounting and engineering firms. It also suits businesses that sell to clients outside Rwanda and need pages in English and French.
How the engagement works
- Audit: technical health, Google Business Profile, current rankings, content and competitors.
- Plan: a prioritised list of fixes and a 90-day plan tied to the searches that bring enquiries.
- Fix the foundations: indexing, speed, page structure and your profile.
- Build: content, local citations and relevant links, month by month.
- Measure and report: traffic, rankings, calls and form enquiries, with the next month’s priorities.
What drives cost
The size of the website, the number of locations, how much new content is needed, how competitive your searches are, whether pages are needed in more than one language, and whether you want a one-time audit and fix or ongoing monthly work. A one-time audit is a common starting point, and the audit report is yours to keep whether or not you continue with us.
Mistakes we see
Paying for “page one in 30 days” promises. Buying hundreds of links from unrelated sites. Letting a former developer or agency own the Google Business Profile. Publishing many thin articles instead of a few useful ones. Different phone numbers on the website, the profile and directories. Measuring success by rankings for a business name instead of the searches customers actually use. And redesigning a website without redirects, which throws away years of search visibility overnight.
What we’ll need from you
Access to your website, or to whoever manages it; owner or manager access to your Google Business Profile, Search Console and Analytics if they exist; a list of the services and locations that matter most; and, ideally, someone who can answer questions about your customers. The better we understand what your customers ask, the better the pages we build to answer them.

How Long Does SEO Take to Show Results in Rwanda?
What can improve within weeks, what usually takes months, and the factors that decide how quickly SEO work pays off for a business in Rwanda.
Frequently asked questions
What does an SEO service actually change on our website?
It depends on what the audit finds. Typical work includes fixing pages Google can't crawl or index, rewriting page titles and descriptions, restructuring service pages around what customers search for, adding structured data, improving speed on mobile, and publishing content that answers real questions. Off the website, it covers your Google Business Profile, directory listings and earning links from relevant sites.
Can you guarantee our business will rank first on Google?
No, and nobody honestly can. Google decides rankings using many signals it doesn't publish, and competitors are working on the same searches. What we can commit to is the work itself: fixing technical problems, improving pages and content, building a credible profile, and reporting on what changed in your traffic and enquiries each month.
Which businesses in Rwanda benefit most from SEO?
Businesses whose customers search before they buy or call: hotels, tour operators, clinics, restaurants, logistics companies, real estate agencies, schools, professional services and retailers. Organisations selling to customers abroad, such as tourism and export businesses, also benefit from English and French pages. If your customers never search online, SEO is not where your budget should go.
Is a Google Business Profile the same as SEO?
It is one part of it. A Google Business Profile is the listing that appears in Google Maps and in local results, and it matters most for searches with a location in mind, such as a service in Kigali. SEO also covers your website, its content and its reputation across the web. The strongest local results usually come from improving both together.
How long before SEO work shows results?
Technical fixes and a completed Google Business Profile can show effects within weeks, once Google recrawls the pages. Rankings for competitive searches usually take several months of content and authority building. The timeline depends on how much competition there is for your searches, the state of your website when we start, and how consistently the work continues.
Do we need a new website before starting SEO?
Usually not. Most sites can be improved where they are, and an audit tells you whether the current platform is holding you back. A rebuild only makes sense when the site can't be edited, is too slow to fix, or is built in a way search engines can't read. If a rebuild is needed, we plan redirects so existing rankings aren't lost.
How is SEO priced at GENIUS Advanced Technologies?
We don't publish fixed packages. Every engagement starts with an audit of your website, your Google Business Profile and the searches you want to appear for. The quote then reflects the number of pages, how much content is needed, the competition for your searches and whether you want a one-time project or ongoing monthly work.
Can customers find you on Google today?
Send us your website and the searches you want to appear for. We’ll start with an audit and tell you what to fix first.
