Networking Equipment Supply in Rwanda

Switches, access points and network hardware sourced and pre-configured before delivery.

Networking equipment supply provides everything a network project needs, beyond the headline devices: firewalls, cabling components, racks, fibre and transceivers, Power over Ethernet and power protection, specified against an agreed design and delivered ready to install. Any organisation building or upgrading a network, or adding a site, needs it. This page covers the full bill of materials. Choosing routers and switches is covered by routers and switches, and wireless by Wi-Fi equipment.

What is networking equipment supply, and who needs it

It’s sourcing the complete set of network hardware a design calls for, checked for compatibility, quoted with manufacturer warranty terms and optionally pre-configured. It suits new offices, network upgrades, branch openings and campus projects, and organisations whose installer needs equipment supplied to a design.

The problem it solves

Network projects stall on small things: a transceiver of the wrong type, not enough patch cords, a rack too shallow for the switch, a firewall without the licence its features need, or a Power over Ethernet budget too small for the cameras. Equipment bought piece by piece without a design also mixes platforms that don’t manage well together. Supplying against one complete bill of materials avoids those delays and mismatches.

What a complete bill of materials covers

Security. A firewall sized for your internet speed with security features switched on, and the subscriptions those features need.

Switching and routing, specified on the routers and switches page.

Wireless, specified on the Wi-Fi equipment page.

Cabling components. Patch panels, keystone jacks, faceplates and patch cords to the cabling category in the design, such as Cat6 or Cat6A.

Fibre. Fibre patch cords, enclosures and transceivers matched to the fibre type and distance.

Racks and management. Racks of the right depth, cable managers, shelves, blanking panels and labels.

Power. Rack power distribution and a UPS sized to the network’s load.

Spares. A small stock of common parts, such as patch cords and transceivers.

Power over Ethernet budgets

Phones, access points and cameras increasingly take power from the switch. Each standard supplies a different amount per port: 15.4 watts for standard PoE, 30 watts for PoE+, and 60 or 90 watts for the high-power standard. What matters is the switch’s total budget across all ports at once. We add up the real draw of every device, including camera infrared at night, and leave headroom, because an exhausted budget shows up as devices rebooting unpredictably.

Subscriptions and licences

Some network equipment only delivers its advertised features with a subscription: firewall threat filtering and intrusion prevention, cloud management for switches and access points, and extended support. These renew annually or over several years. We list every subscription on the quote with its term, so the running cost is visible before purchase and nothing quietly lapses, leaving a firewall that looks protected but has stopped updating its threat signatures.

What the work involves

  1. Start from the design, ours or one you provide.
  2. Build the bill of materials, checking compatibility item by item.
  3. Quote with warranty terms, licences and delivery dates.
  4. Order and receive, checking every item against the list.
  5. Pre-configure and label devices if requested.
  6. Deliver to site, packed by location.

What’s included and what’s not

Included: bill of materials preparation, compatibility checks, sourcing, quotes with warranty terms, and delivery.

Not included unless bundled: network design (see network architecture design), installation (see LAN/WAN network installation), cabling work, and ongoing support.

Typical timelines and what drives cost

Common items are usually available within days to a few weeks; firewalls with subscriptions, high-port-count switches and fibre components can take longer. Cost is driven by network size, port counts and speeds, firewall capacity and subscriptions, cabling category, fibre runs, and pre-configuration.

Equipment typically used

Business firewalls, managed switches, access points, patch panels and cabling components, fibre enclosures and transceivers, racks and cable management, rack power distribution and UPS units.

Common mistakes we see

Buying devices before a design exists. Firewalls without the subscriptions their features need. Wrong transceiver types for the fibre. Racks too shallow for the equipment. Power over Ethernet budgets too small. No spare patch cords. And equipment from platforms that can’t be managed together.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between this and the Routers & Switches page specifically?

This page covers the whole network bill of materials for a project: firewalls, cabling and patch panels, racks, fibre and transceivers, Power over Ethernet, and the parts that connect it all. Routers and switches has its own page because choosing them involves specific decisions, and Wi-Fi equipment has its own page too. Most projects draw on all three.

Can equipment be pre-configured before delivery to speed up installation?

Yes. Switches, firewalls and access points can be set up to the agreed design before they reach site, with firmware updated, settings applied and every device labelled for its location. On-site work is then mostly mounting and connecting, which shortens disruption to your staff and reduces mistakes during installation.

Do you supply equipment that supports PoE for phones, access points and cameras?

Yes, sized to the devices. Standard PoE provides up to 15.4 watts per port, PoE+ up to 30 watts, and the newer high-power standard up to 60 or 90 watts. We add up what every phone, access point and camera needs, including infrared and heaters, and make sure the switch's total budget covers all of them at once.

Can you supply equipment to match an existing network's brand or management platform?

Usually. Matching matters when equipment shares a management platform, stacks with existing switches or uses the same licences. If the exact model is discontinued, we propose the closest current equivalent and explain any differences before you order. Where matching would lock you into an unsuitable platform, we say so.

Why does a network need a proper rack and cable management?

Because a tidy, labelled rack is faster to fix and safer to change. Equipment stacked on shelves overheats, cables get pulled out by accident, and nobody can trace which cable goes where during a fault. Racks, patch panels, cable managers, blanking panels and labels cost little compared with the time they save.

Buying equipment for a new office or refresh?

Send us the list, or tell us what it’s for. We’ll quote equipment matched to the job and to local support.
